FarmHER Liz Featured on NPR Discussing the Convenience of CSA Boxes

FarmHER Liz and Happy Hollow Farm were featured in a story by KCUR, Kansas City's NPR affiliate, as part of their Harvest Public Media series on local food systems.

The piece is called "CSA boxes get people buying fresh from farms, but will customer convenience hurt the mission?" and highlights how customers are wanting more flexibility, more customization, and more convenience when it comes to their subscriptions. But at what point does a CSA stop being a CSA?

Liz weighs in on how Happy Hollow has been running its CSA for 16 years. Some things have changes, as we stopped requiring members to volunteer and brought on more full-time help, which turned out to be a good move for the farm. We've also made it easier to pay month-to-month and let members make swaps when we've got a surplus of something.

"For me, CSA embodies eating seasonally, supporting the farm that is feeding you. I'm not Amazon." -FarmHER Liz

The full story is up on KCUR's website, and there's an audio version too if you'd rather listen while you're doing something else.
